Marion J. Dent

Marion I. Dent, 94, of St. Joseph, passed away on June 22, 2006, at Caretel Inns of Royalton, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 7, 2006, at 12:00 noon at Fairplain Presbyterian Church, Benton Harbor, with Rev. Dr. John Munson officiating. Burial of cremains will be held at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Memorials may be made to the Fairplain Presbyterian Church or to the Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to share a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Marion was born July 25, 1911, in Millageville, Pennsylvania, to Alfred and Louisa (Bell) Johnston. She was a graduate of Westminster College. Marion married Merle Dent on October 1, 1938, in Millageville, PA. and became a homemaker. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was an active member of her church and a member of the Economics Club. Marion was a volunteer at Lakeland Hospital for 25 years with 10,000 hours of service. She also enjoyed traveling. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren, never missing a chance to be involved in all of their activities. Survivors include her sons: Merle (Sandra) Dent, Jr., of Stevensville, James (Mary Kay) Dent of Roscommon, MI, a daughter, Carol (Richard) Wick of St. Joseph; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
