Charles's Obituary

Charles Martin, Jr., 81, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 21, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Richard Ely officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville with a military service. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, August 20, 2006, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Bible Church. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Charles was born on October 10, 1924 in Missouri. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the United States Army. In 1948 he married Virginia Romeo in Elkhart, IN. Together they had two children, Tim and Patty. Charles was an iron worker and retired from the Cook Nuclear Plant after working in the electrical generator plant. He was active in the Benton Harbor VFW Post #1137. Charles is survived by his wife Virginia; his children, Tim (Sally) Martin of Fort Wayne, IN and Patty (Aaron) Russell of Eau Claire; one grandchild; brother, Dale Martin of Elkhart, IN; and has numerous nieces and nephews.
