Beverly G. Book

Beverly G. Book, 90, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, June 5, 2006 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Jonathan Book & Rev. Alan Mettler officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Book was born April 19, 1916 in Grant Park, Illinois to Robert & Ruby (Stowell) Pemble. On June 12, 1935, she married John Book in Momense, IL. Together they owned and operated The Country Store on Jennings Avenue in Benton Harbor from 1962-1982. Beverly was a member of Riverview Park Christian Church in St. Joseph. She was a very caring person, always concerned about others before herself. Beverly most of all enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will greatly miss her many kindnesses and constant prayers and support. Mrs. Book is survived by her two sons-Robert (Karen) Book of St. Joseph, Richard (Donna) Book of Stevensville; six grandchildren-Brent (Lisa) Book, Adrienne (Otto) Wishman, Kara (John) Duffy, Jennifer (Mark Soper) Book, Jonathan (Kimberly) Book, Julie (James) Spitters; and fifteen great-grandchildren-Andrea, Zachary, McKayla & Caleb Book, McKenna, Shane & Brynn Duffy, Cassidy Wishman, Kelsy, Austin, Braden & Emily Book, Maity, Addy, & Laiah Spitters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John on September 13, 1982, and her sister Phyllis Hansen in 2003.
