Mathilda's Obituary
Mathilda Threasa Kolberg, 92, of Berrien Springs, passed on to her eternal home on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2006, at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, June 2, 2006, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. Gerald Schroer and Rev. Jonathan Kruschel officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Run Cemetery, Royalton Township at Scottdale. Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Berrien County 4-H Foundation, Berrien County Youth Fair Endowment or Alzheimer’s Foundation. Those wishing to send a condolence message online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mathilda was born on March 7, 1914 in Baroda, Michigan to Alex and Emma (Reis) Reisig. On May 22, 1937 she married Harry F. Kolberg at Zion Church in Baroda, Michigan. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and avid supporter of the Berrien County Youth Fair and Berrien County 4-H. Mathilda’s employment includes Williams Box factory with her last employment as Plant Supervisor at Shepherd Casters, Inc., from early 60’s to the early 80’s when she retired. She also enjoyed working on the farm with her husband and family. Mathilda is survived by her son Jerry Lee (Neita) Kolberg of Oxford, Mississippi, daughter Karen (Rocklyn) Kietzer of Stevensville, daughter Lori Jean Kolberg of San Diego, California; five grandchildren – Lisa Kolberg, of Oxford Miss, Leslie (Rob) Dean of Hattieville, Ark, Adam Kietzer of Chicago, Ill., Kari Kietzer of DeRay Beach, Florida, Eric Kietzer, of Stevensville, Michigan; two great-grandchildren – Brittany and Melanie Dean; and a sister-in-law Mildred (Charles) Price. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, granddaughter Debra Kolberg, daughter-in-law Connie Long Kolberg, brother Ferd (Mary) Reisig, brother Alex (Tillie) Reisig, sisters Alexandria (Elmer) Nitz, Georgena Reisig.
