Dorothy Mae Schmidt

Dorothy Mae Schmidt, 92, of Benton Harbor, passed away Sunday, May, 28, 2006, at Orchard Grove Extended Care Centre in Benton Harbor. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St. St. Joseph with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Visitation will be held between 1:00 and 2:00 at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at North Shore Memory Garden in Coloma. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Dorothy was born on March 31, 1914 in Illinois. She was one of five children born to John and Lena Guymon. On August 24, 1940 she married Fred Schmidt in St. Joseph. Together they had three children, Carol, Paul, and Mary. Dorothy was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her children, Carol Hill, Paul Schmidt both of Benton Harbor, and Mary (Henry) Wutzke of Coloma; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Schmidt; two brothers, Paul & Milburn Guymon; two sisters, Marie Guymon and Irene Walker; her grandson; and her great-grandson.
