Thomas John “T.J.” Sweeney, Jr., 46, formerly of St. Joseph, went to rest in the Lord’s arms on Thursday, May 25, 2006, in Holland, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 30, 2006, with Msgr Eugene Sears and Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 -7:00 P.M., with Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 29, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. T.J. was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1978. He spent his entire career in the Hospitality Management Industry, most notably H.I.’s Saloon for many years. T.J. was a friend to all. He enjoyed golfing, the Cubs and Bears, and outdoor sports with his family. T.J. especially enjoyed his children, brothers and sisters and spending holidays with all his extended family. He will be deeply missed by his children Allysa and Alex Arent, and Austin B. Sweeney, as well as Kelly, Holly, and Celena Gibson. In addition to his children he is survived by his parents Thomas J. Sweeney, Sr., of St. Joseph, and Arlene M. Sweeney of Holland, Michigan; six brothers and sisters – Kevin (Cindy) Sweeney of St. Joseph, Eileen (Les) Pullins of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Pat (Edith) Sweeney of St. Joseph, Mike Sweeney, of Murphy, North Carolina, Mary Kate (Glenn) Andrews of Stevensville, and Sean (Michelle) Sweeney of Watervliet; and many nieces and nephews. T.J.’s great smile and willingness to lend a helping hand to all will be missed by family and friends. We love you.
