Edgar's Obituary
Edgar Harry Beckman, Sr., 82, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at a later date in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Edgar was born to Harry and Ella ( Disitell ) Beckman on May 12, 1924, in St. Joseph. He attended St. Joseph High School. Soon after he joined the United States Air Corp. He married Alberta Allison on November 7, 1947, in St. Joseph. ( 59 wonderful years.) Edgar was an electrician who retired from Chardon Rubber and a Fire Rescue Captain for St. Joseph Township Fire Department, Station 1, for over 35 years. He was a member of the Masons, the American Legion along with the American Red Cross as a CPR instructor. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, camping and watching the birds and squirrels feeding and playing in his back yard. He also liked to help his wife with her Avon.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Alberta; children, William Enders of
Bridgman, Cherie Fisher of St. Joseph, and Edgar Beckman, Jr. of St. Joseph; brothers, Frank (Julie) Beckman of St. Joseph and Fred (Ruth) Beckman of Portage, MI; grandchildren, Paula (Kyle) Querbach of Benton Harbor, Amy Hanners of Elkhart, and Tammy Fisher of St. Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Niki, Tommy, Tina, Derrik, Jonathan, Amanda, Damion, and Matthew.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harry Beckman, Jr.
