George's Obituary
George Scaravelli, M.D., 83, of St. Joseph, MI, formerly of Elgin, IL, passed away at home Saturday, May 6, 2006.
Dr. Scaravelli was born in Ferrara, Italy, and received a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Bologna. He left Italy to serve as a rural physician in the Venezuelan jungle before coming to the United States in 1952. He completed his residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and served as pathologist for St. Joseph Hospital, Sherman Hospital, and Fox Valley Medical Lab.
After his retirement from medical practice, Dr. Scaravelli taught Italian at ECC and the University of South Florida.
His warm character and wry sense of humor will be deeply missed by his wife Donna, son Daniel (Nancy), and daughter Rosella (Donald) Resnais. He was preceded in death by parents Marcello and Rosa, and by siblings Celestino, Luisa, and Carmen.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, 269-556-9450.
