Elsie's Obituary
Elsie A. Ullig, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at 10:00 A.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Martin Weigand officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Elsie was born on March 2, 1913, in Milwaukee, WI, to Gustav and Wanda (Shermer) Stach, and later moved to St. Joseph. Elsie married Gustav Ullig on April 28, 1951. At that time she inherited a family of children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor and was also a member of St. Matthew’s Ladies Aid Society. Elsie is survived by her close sister, Lucille Schultz; niece, Norma (Richard) Schultz; nephew, Robert (Carol) Schultz and their children; step-children, Marilyn Small, Wanda Ullig, and Laura Ullig; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-children; and two great-great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav in 1988; two sons, Vernon G. Ullig and Marvin Ullig; and one grandson, Vernon R. Ullig. Elsie was a wonderful person who loved her children and grandchildren very much and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
