Dorothy Richter, 90, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M., Thursday, March 16, at First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God. Dorothy was born September 9, 1915, in Benton Harbor. She was the daughter of Julius & Amelia Bish. On November 3, 1951, she married Chester Richter in Benton Harbor. She was employed for eighteen years at Industrial Rubber and retired from Potash Forrest Paper Company. She was a charter member of the Woman’s Missionary Society at First Assembly Church. Dorothy was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and “just being outdoors.”
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Donald Bish of Stevensville; sister, Pearl (Ralph) Sepp of Peoria, IL; nephews, David (Connie) Bush of California, Wenddel (Merrily) Emery of Holland, MI, Edward (Lois) Bish of Chicago, Charles (Carolyn) Bush of Wisconsin, and Richard Bish of Las Vegas, NV; niece, Deloris Rodeo of Oakwood Hills, IL; other nieces and nephews, George, Harry, and Barbara Fredericks and Marilyn Fredericks; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friend, Lucille Piehl.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death earlier this year by her husband, Chester; brothers, Theodore and Edward Bish; and her sisters, Kitty Casun, Elsie Bish, Lillian Savage, Helen Potter, Marian Bush, and Leona Bish.
