Rose Ottillie Freier

Rose Ottillie Freier, 92, of St. Joseph passed away Saturday March 11, 2006 in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord, St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00- 8:00 PM Wednesday at Kerley-Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd St. Joseph. Rose was born June 2, 1913 in Baroda to Otto and Augusta (Bleck) Kettelhut. She married William Freier on May 8, 1932 and they enjoyed more than 63 years of marriage. Together they owned and operated three farms in Berrien County. Rose was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the O.W.L.S. organization, and the local Widow and Widowers group. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and neighbors and loved working outside in her flower garden. She was happiest when she could cook a big dinner and have the family gathered around her. Rose will be remembered by all who knew her as an exceptionally sweet-natured, kind, and loving person. She is survived by her daughters Lorraine Rodewald of Houston, Texas, Joan (Earl) Kasischke of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren- Douglas (Sheila) Baiers, Marc Baiers, Julie Baiers, Lynn (Kevin)Luhrs, Karl Kasischke, Karla (Jim) Baker; six great-grandchildren- Justin and Lauren Baiers, Dawn (Andrew) Cook, Drew, Kyra and Chase Baker; and four great-great-granddaughters- Ashtin, Kaitlyn, Shaye, and Delaney Williams. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William on November 1, 1995, her parents, two brothers, Otto and Albert, and sister Grace Mach.
