Charley's Obituary

Charley Marion Wilson, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Dr., St. Joseph with Pastor Dave Broome officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 30 between 6-8 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Charley was born June 30, 1926 in Lynn, Arkansas to Lannie & Hazel Wilson. He married Helen Elizabeth Wooton on November 19, 2006. Charley worked for many years as a carpenter at Tri-Cities. He was known as a “man who would do anything for anybody” and had many friends. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed making clocks out of iron skillets and giving them to his appreciative friends. He especially loved his church and his family. Charley is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Wanda Rothwell of Fargo, ND, Charles (Judy) Wilson of West Palm Beach, FL, Glen (Patty) Wilson of Benton Harbor, Bruce (Rosie) Wilson of Arlington, TX and Mary (Dale) Erny of Benton Harbor; step-children, Jim of Benton Harbor, Roy (Laverne) of Stevensville, Don (Shirley) of Live Oak, FL and Bruce (Margarita) Boswell of Grand Rapids; siblings, Eddy (Peggy) Barns, Allie Mae Klemp, and Velma Evans, all of Caruthersville, MO, Mary Magdalene of Ypsilanti, MI, and Floyd Barns of Minnesota; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willard Wilson; and step-daughter-in-law Linda Boswell.
