John's Obituary
John David Brantley, 70, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2006, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2006, at 7:00 P.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Friends may sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. John was born to Wade C. and Emily (Young) Brantley (Groff) on March 31, 1935, in West Palm Beach, Florida. John served in the Army in the medic corps. during the Korean War. John married Elizabeth Morgan on June 14, 1964 in Benton Harbor. John was the best brick and stone mason in Michiana. He owned and operated his own business, working until the day of his death. He also raised German Shepherds and was a member of Pioneer Memorial Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs. John is survived by his wife Elizabeth; children, Phillip (Lynne) Brantley of Sugar Land, Texas and Sarah (Paul) Herrmann of Bethesda, Maryland; grandchildren, Rachel Brantley, and William and John Herrmann; brother, Dr. Wade S. (Joanne) Brantley of Iowa; and sister Ethel Boxwell of North Carolina. John was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Thomas Brantley in 1980. Memorial donations may be made to Andrews University.
