Janet Marie Burke

Janet Marie Burke, 46, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday morning, April 24, 2006 in her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 28 at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Rd St. Joseph, with Pastor Mark Jones officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening between 5:00 and 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. She was one of three children born to John & Shirley Purtill. On April 20, 1985, she married Paul Burke in St. Joseph. Together they had two children, Anna & Nathan whom she was very proud of. Janet worked for many years at the Berrien County Court House in the Information Services Department. Janet enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, and “shopping for bargains.” Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. Janet is survived by her husband Paul of 21 years; her children, Anna and Nathan; sister, Carla Hoover of Fishers, IN; brother, Mark Purtill of Florida; Mother-in-law, Norma (Dale) Taylor; Father-in-law, Vincent (Cheryl) Burke; sisters-in law, Amy Burke and Debbie (Eric) Simpkins; nieces, Mary and Katie Hoover; nephews, Connor, Evan, Austin Purtill, and Devan Simpkins; and numerous special friends and extended family at the court house. She was preceded in death by her parents.
