Oliver N. Slater

Oliver “Butch” Norman Slater, III, 60, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2006, at his home. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Butch was born on August 21, 1945, to Oliver and Annabelle (Keene) Slater, Jr. (Mulholland) in Benton Harbor. Butch attended Benton Harbor High School and then joined the Marine Corps. Butch is survived by his mother, Annabelle Mulholland of Benton Harbor; sister, Sandra (Frank) Rexroth of Mont Vernon, Washington; brother, Michael (Terry) Slater of St. Joseph; former wife and special friend, Roberta Slater of St. Joseph; step-children, Lisa (Terry) Cobb of St. Joseph and Aaron (Heidi) Filippo of St. Joseph; step-grandchildren, Sara and Nicholas Cobb and Abigail, Audrey, and Isaac Filippo; aunts, Patricia Mangold of Stevensville, Dorothy Granger of Benton Harbor, Eleanor Gumpert of South Haven and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Butch was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Slater, Jr. in October 1985.
