Mary Alice Loewen

Mary Alice Loewen, of Coloma, formerly of St. Joseph, went peacefully to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006. Born April 16, 1928, in Grand Rapids. A former member of the Congregational Church and the Church of God, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was a lifelong member of Eastern Star.She was employed at the Lobster Lounge and the Pine Pub, where she had many friends. Mary dedicated her last 19 years to helping raise her grandson, Brandon, whom she enjoyed and loved. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and John Harbry; brother, Harold; husbands, Hugh Bain and Lenord Loewen; longtime friend, Don Dansfield. She was a loving mother and is survived by children, Nancy Bruneel (Lee), Sandra Fisher (Dave), Robert Bain, Sharon Glupker, Michael Loewen; grandchildren, Andrea Cabana (Chris), Jason Bruneel (Sarah), Jennifer Remondino (Dan), Kelly and Scott Fisher, Christen and Robert Bain, Brandon Glupker, Amanda and Eric Loewen; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Abrie and Joey Cabana. She was a loving, funny, and spirited lady who will always be remembered. A celebration of Mary’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to her grandson, Brandon Glupker’s College Fund, in care of Nancy Bruneel.
