Edith Mary Anderson

Edith Mary (DeWitt) Anderson, 96, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Friday June 28 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.The service will be held on Monday, July 1, at 1pm at Yazel-Clark Funeral Home in Dowagiac, MI. Visitation will begin Monday at 11am until time of service. After interment at Riverside Cemetery, a luncheon will be served at the Lions Club House on Bluebird Ln. Edie was born December 6, 1916, in Whitehall, MI, the sixth child (of 8) born to John and Ollie DeWitt. She graduated from Whitehall High School and Davenport Business College (now Davenport University). She worked for the Department of Agriculture and she ran the draft board for the Selective Service until her retirement. She met Herb Anderson in Muskegon and they were married in Falmouth, MA, in 1942 as he left for the war. She enjoyed knitting, cards, tennis, bike-riding, golf, and gardening. She was an active member of the Federated Church and was an active volunteer all her life. She was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma, and always thought about other people and how to take care of them.Edie is survived by her devoted husband of more than 70 years, Herb Anderson; her loving daughter, Pam (Jack) Revette of Frankenmuth, MI; her granddaughters, Robin (Steve) Fowler of Ann Arbor, MI, and Lynn (Jacob) Garcowski of Raleigh, NC; two great-grandchildren, Pia Michelle Garcowski and Marshall Anderson Fowler; two sisters-in-law, Doris DeWitt and Elaine Schettle; and many very close nieces and nephews. Edie was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
