Richard's Obituary

Richard “Jerry” Iversen, 78, of Bridgman, went home to the Lord Wednesday morning, January 25, 2006, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life will take place 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 27, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Dr. Randy Doyle officiating. Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Bridgman Post # 331. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 26, 2006, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jerry was born on October 15, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Hans and Marie (Sherwood) Iversen. He married Maxine Guinn on October 11, 1974, in St. Joseph. Jerry worked for the Chicago Daily News, Lakeshore Manufacturers Motor Freight, Iversen Motor Freight, Leco Corporation and Chemical Bank. He was a proud Veteran of WWII, a member of FOP Lodge Post # 96 and American Legion Bridgman Post # 331. Jerry is survived by Maxine, his loving wife of 32 years; children- Janean (Bill Rosado) Rimes of Palatine, IL, Jeri (Don) Yerington of Bridgman, Jeannette (Will) Smith of St. Joseph, Joseph (Kathy) Mashak of St. Joseph, Jesse Mashak of Kalamazoo, and Jim Mashak of St. Joseph; Seven grandchildren- Michele Kucharczyk, Jenifer Rimes, Misty Yerington, Anna Davis, Maggie Smith, Jon Mashak and Erica Salyer; four great-grandchildren; brother Len (Pauline) Iversen of Williamsburg, VA; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
