Frank's Obituary
Frank Hill, 91, of St. Joseph passed away January 3, 2006 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church Street, St. Joseph with Fr. Christian Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5 from 5-7 PM at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the St. Joe Lions Club. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Frank was born in Vicksburg, MI on January 20, 1914 to Charles & Fern (Warren) Hill. He graduated from Vicksburg High School and attended Western Michigan University. He was Assistant Manager in charge of 3 A&P stores in Kalamazoo before signing on with National Cash Register in 1940. On September 3, 1938 he married Lucille Giuliani with whom he enjoyed 65 happy years before her death on December 28, 2003. He was in the US Army for 3 years stationed in England and later in Germany. He was in the 15th Hospital Center and his company of 137 was responsible for furnishing the hospitals with food, transportation, and medicines. Later its duties included processing wounded GIs back to active duty or sending them home. He served with Captain Truman, the President’s nephew. He witnessed a football game in Germany sitting 10 feet from General Eisenhower. In 1946 NCR sent him to St. Joseph where he earned five silver pins for exceeding 100 % of his goal. In 1959 he joined John Lindenfeld in real estate. After John’s death, he continued in real estate with operating his own agency until his retirement in 1981. Frank enjoyed woodworking and golf – boasting of an eagle on the 11th hole at Blossom Trails. He is survived by a brother, Harold Hill of Kalamazoo, and a sister Mary Louise Boggis of Glenview, IL. He is also survived by nieces Shirley Olson of Wisconsin Dells, Nancy Warren of Delton, MI, nephew J. Joseph Casey of Glenview, IL and many grand nieces and nephews.
