Donald C. Melnik

Donald C. Melnik, 69, of St. Joseph, MI passed away January 11, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00A.M. Monday, January 16, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church Street, St. Joseph with Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call on Sunday, January 15, from 2-4 PM at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Birthright or Lory’s Place. Those wishing to share a condolence message online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Don was born February 21, 1936 in Detroit, the son of Casmer & Anne (Babe) Melnik. He graduated from Indiana University, and on February 9, 1963 he married his sweetheart, Sue (Karns), who survives. Together they enjoyed their children and grandchildren. Don was the President of MAC Engineering until his retirement in 2001. He formerly served on the St. Joseph Planning Commission. Besides being a true wine enthusiast, Don was an avid golfer, loving every minute spent on the golf course. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa. Survivors include his wife and his daughters Michele (Chris) Janc of Elmhurst, IL and Karen Melnik of Chicago, IL; sister Joann (Frank) Fisher of Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren Erik Joseph Janc and Aidan Donald Janc.
