Grover T. Smith

Grover T. “Smitty” Smith, 76, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006 in Winter Haven Hospital, Florida. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 18, 2006, with Fr. Christian Johnston officiating at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call on the family from 5:00-8:00 P.M., with Rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made in Grover’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice. Grover was born July 10, 1929, in Friendly, W.V., to Hennen and Arlene (Ice) Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was employed as an Inspector at Clark Equipment. Grover was a member of Stevensville American Legion Post. His interests included golfing, watching his grandchildren playing sports, and watching NASCAR. He is survived by his wife Connie Smith; son Michael (Shelley) Smith of Bridgman; daughter Pamela (Chip) Hendrick of Saginaw; three grandchildren Trace Hendrick, Heidi Hendrick, and Luke Hendrick; brothers William Harvey Smith of New York, Okey Leo (Judy) Smith of West Virginia; and sister Mary (Sonny) Finnegan of Pennsylvania.
