Ollie L. Loveless

Ollie L. Loveless, 74, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 475 Green St., Benton Harbor with Rev Doug Peterson officiating & military rites conducted by Coloma American Legion Post #362, VFW Post #1137 of Benton Harbor, and VFW Post #6803 of Watervliet. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to The Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor, The Salvation Army, or Harbor Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Loveless was born October 3, 1931 in Russelville, Arkansas to James Ollie & Della (Morgan) Loveless. At age 15, his family moved to the South Haven-Lacoda Area. Ollie served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1964 he moved his family to Benton Harbor. On November 3, 1979, he married the former Kathryn Heinz in Benton Harbor. Ollie was the co-owner & operator of Alko Tool Corp. in Benton Harbor, which he and his wife Kathryn founded in 1982. He loved his job at Alko Tool. Mr. Loveless is survived by his wife Kathryn; his children-Christopher James (Loveless) of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Gard of St. Joseph, Scott Slosson of Costa Mesa, CA, Kristi Loveless of Gobles, MI; five grandchildren-Brittney & Nicholas Gard, Rebekah James, Jacob & Cole Olszewski; his sister Ruby Allene (Walter Lee) Newell of Leesburg, FL; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-Faye Brewer, Lucille Cossey, and a brother Doyle Loveless.
