Dorris Burns

Dorris Dean Burns, 82, of Benton Harbor, passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 at Shoreham Nursing Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, November 21, at 10:00 A.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with the Rev. Melanie Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Society. Friends may meet with the family beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home. She was one of three daughters born to Frederick & Naoma Laman. Dorris had two daughters, Beverly & Brenda. After receiving her Nursing Degree from Missouri Baptist College, she worked for many years as a Nursing Supervisor at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor. Known for her unique sense of humor, Dorris was an individualist who enjoyed life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working cross-word puzzles. Dorris is survived by her daughters, Beverly Lynn Barwick of Baroda and Brenda Jean (Michael) Lucker of St. Joseph; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dixie Krieger of St. Joseph. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Klump.
