Richard Sammut

Richard Sammut, 58, of Stevensville, MI, passed away at Lakeland Hospital on Tues., Feb. 7, 06. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 11:00 a.m., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and on Friday from 4:00-9:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek, MI. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On August 28, 1970, in Muskegon, MI, he married Jana Lee Church. Richard was employed at Whirlpool Corp., for app. 19 years, as a tax manager. He was a past President of Tax Executives Institute; a volunteer for Accounting Aid Society; and a past President of the Lakeshore Lions Club. Richard was an avid fisherman, and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife Jana; his father Joseph of Livonia, MI; his two children, Bradley (Natasha) Sammut of Grand Rapids, MI, and Deena (Tim) Filstrup of Galesburg, MI; three grandchildren, Ariana, Ahlan, and Lisette; two brothers, Kenneth (Karen) Sammut of Howell, MI, and Thomas (Toni) Sammut of Novi, MI; two sisters, Shirley Sammut of Novi, MI, and Joanne (Gary) Sachs of Columbia, MD; numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends. Richard is preceded in death by his mother-Nicolina.
