Eleanor's Obituary

Eleanor Elsie Jewell, 80, of Stevensville, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at Golden Place in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, September 23, 2005, at St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Gerald Schroer and Rev. Jonathan Kruschel officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memorial Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Thursday, September 22, 2005, at Kerley- Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church or American Heart Association. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-mencinger.com. Eleanor was born to Samuel and Alvina (Hahn) Geik on April 27, 1925, in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1942. She retired from Glenlord Home Center in Stevensville as a cashier/bookkeeper. Eleanor was a member of the Economettes Club and St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Eleanor enjoyed cross-stitching, spending time with her family, and shopping. Eleanor is survived by her children- Sandy (Gus) Leoni of St. Joseph, Jan (Al) Landeck of Niles, Tom (Pat) Jewell of Washington, PA, and Roger (Dawn) Jewell of St. Joseph; grandchildren- Andy and Todd Barbott, Scott Samolczyk, Tracie Kuriata, Jason Ford, Troy and Ryan Jewell, Heather Cash, Lindsey Turner, and Nicholas and Alex Jewell; four step-grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and brother Alfred Geik. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Elmer Geik; and sisters Evelyn Bayles and Marion Steinke.
