Sheldon L. Radom, 84, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, January 06, 2006, at home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 9, at Temple Bnai Sholom, 2050 Broadway, Benton Harbor, with Rabbi Michael Rascoe officiating. Burial will follow at Bnai Shalom Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Memorials may be made to Temple Bnai Shalom, Berrien County Cancer Service, John Jollay Scholarship Fund or Jordan Tatter Scholarship Fund. Sheldon was born September 22, 1921 in Benton Harbor to Solomon & Rose (Sax) Radom. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1939. Sheldon served his country in the US Army during WWII. On November 30, 1947, he married the former Estelle Dubman in Chicago. Sheldon owned & operated Radom Farm Supply in Bainbridge Township, a business that was started by his father in 1919. He was a member of Temple Bnai Shalom in Benton Harbor. Sheldon was a life-long active participant & contributor to many causes and organizations in the Twin Cities area. He served as the grand marshall for the Grand Floral Blossom Parade in 2000. Sheldon was an avid sports enthusiast, and was inducted in 2002 into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Lansing for his contributions over the years.
Mr. Radom is survived by his son Michael (Richonda) Radom of St. Joseph; his daughter Peggy Radom of St. Joseph; four grandchildren-Leza (Jeff) Kirshenbaum, David Solomon (Laura) Radom, Megan Zuhl, Andrew Zuhl; two great-grandchildren-Josh & Halley Kirshenbaum; a brother-in-law Wilbur Jarvis of Paw Paw, MI; a sister-in-law-Beatrice Lewin of Chicago; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Estelle on October 31, 1989, his brother Marvin Radom and his sister Annette Jarvis.
