Virginia M. Schrage

Virginia M. Schrage, 90, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior, Tuesday, October 04, 2005, at Caretel Inns of Royalton in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph with Rev. Thomas Batsky & Rev. Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or The Lutheran Hour. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Schrage was born September 29, 1915 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Robert & Anna (Madison) Totzke. On September 21, 1941, she married Richard ?Dick?Miller in St. Joseph. He was killed in action during WWII on May 13, 1945. On June 12, 1948, she married Orville Schrage in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1997. Ginnie was employed for a time at Rimes & Hildebrand in St. Joseph, but for most of her life, she took care of her family. Her family and her church were the most important parts of her life. She was always interested in helping other people. Mrs. Schrage is survived by two daughters-Lynn (Richard) Wigfield of Saranac, MI, Valerie (Mark) Kennedy of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandchildren-Bruce (Lindy) Wigfield, Dawn (Ralph) Bowling, Gretchen (Brett) Helgeson; two great-grandchildren-Dylan & Ryan Wigfield; two nieces-Christine (Charles) Sills, Joyce (Roger) Kopp; and the Choang Family of Zeeland, MI. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Thomasson, her grandson CPL Brian Matthew Kennedy in 2003, and two nephews-Richard Schrage & John Hanley.
