Violet's Obituary
Violet Evelyn Lodyga, 86, of Stevensville and formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Golden Pines Adult Foster Care in Stevensville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church Street in St. Joseph with Fr. Christian Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held at the Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, Monday, between 5-8 P.M. with liturgical prayers said at 7:00. Burial will be at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorials may be made to Golden Pines Adult Foster Care.
Violet was born January 31, 1919 in Chicago to Michael and Nettie (Warner) Raday. On October 23, 1936 she married Stanley Joseph Lodyga in St. Joseph. They had two children, Michael and Marcia. Violet spent her adult years in the Twin-Cities area. She was always a hard worker. In her early 40’s, she began a career at JC Penny in Benton Harbor holding various positions – the last being in catalog sales. She retired at age 78. Violet enjoyed taking care of her house, flowers, and spending time with her grand children. In 2000 she moved to Golden Pines and thoroughly enjoyed her time while living there.
Mrs. Lodyga is survived by her children, Marcia (Larry) Lindemann of St. Joseph and Michael (Jan) Lodyga of Punta Gorda, FL; 6 grandchildren, Michelle (William) Hicks, Laryl (David) Powell, Marla (Charles) Barnard, James (Rellie) Lodyga, Kristine (Bill) Lange, and Thomas (Becky) Lodyga; 10 great-grandchildren, Michael & Bethany Hicks, Hannah, Emma, & Rachel Barnard, Wesley & Tyler Lodyga, and Rebecca, Kimberly, and Victoria Lange; and two brothers, Victor & Marvin Raday, both from Florida.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband Stanley on Christmas Day 1975; a sister, Alice Morgan; four brothers Joseph, Clem, Harry, & Michael Raday; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Rose Lodyga.
