Jeannette L. Weinhardt of Dowagiac, MI, was born March 28, 1938 in Chicago, Ill, and passed away on May 20, 2013, after a third courageous battle with cancers. She graduated from Hyde Park high school in Chicago, Ill. She then met Robert F Weinhardt in 1958 at a USO dance while He was stationed at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. They were married on February 6, 1960 at Ridge Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago Ill. Jill was her name known by others. She spent her time starting as a banker at the Chicago National Bank downtown Chicago. She was the Vice-president of Accounting at Worth Bank and Trust for 27 years until her retirement to her lake-front home in Dowagiac, MI. Her hobbies included gardening and boating. She was an avid collector with many interests. Her favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers and whatever baseball team her grandson Robbie played on. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert of 53 years and, her parents, Jacob and Leona Witteveen.She is survived by her, sister Ginger (Witteveen) Hayes of Holland, MI, children, Diana (Dean)Treangen of Farmington, MN, William (Cathy) Weinhardt of Pearl City, HI; five grandchildren: Kelsey (Eric) Sullivan of Pearland, TX Robbie (Jennifer) Weinhardt of Pearland, TX;, Eric and Jacob Weinhardt and Lindsie Mcnally of Pearl City, HI, and one great-grand child, Ethan Sullivan,and one brother-in-law Donald (Carol) Weinhardt of Webster, MA.A Celebration of Life will be held at Yazel & Clark Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, on Wednesday May 22 at 1 P.M. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Wayne Cemetery, Dowagiac.
