Arlyss's Obituary
Arlyss Mae Kohn Bell, 86, formerly of Stevensville, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006 at Golden Place in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 10:00 A.M., at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Road, St. Joseph, with Rev. Carl Pagel officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may call on the family on Friday, January 13, 2006 between 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Kerley- Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to either Hospice at Home or Berrien County Cancer Service. Arlyss was born on May 10, 1919 in Barrett, MN to Edward and Martha Erickson. On June 17, 1941 she married Ednor Kohn in Pasadena, CA. They had 3 children, Gerald, Robert, & Karol. She was a long-time volunteer of the Mercy Memorial Auxillary. She also sang in the choir at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. Arlyss enjoyed traveling and playing golf. She was an avid crossword puzzle fan and enjoyed taking care of birds at the many feeders in her yard. On October 3, 1983 she married Paul E. Bell of Lansing. Arlyss is survived by her husband, Paul currently of Reno, NV; her three children, Gerald (Beverly) Kohn of Three Oaks, Robert (Betty) Kohn of Bridgman, and Karol Kohn of Grand Rapids; 5 grand children, Scott (Pam) Kohn, Todd Kohn, Sara (Geoff) Nash, Bill (Joy) Bancroft, and Bob Bancroft; her great-grandchildren, Michael & Elizabeth Strefling, Allison & Lauren Nash, Drew, Mitchell, Elsie & Jacob Bancroft; and her step-children, Tommy, Larry, and Terry Bell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ednor on March 10, 1970; one brother, Eugene Erickson; and two sisters, Irene Finstad & Celeste Hadler.
