Roger's Obituary
Roger Archie, 61, of Bitely, MI, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 28, in his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 29, at the Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with pastor Winston Decker officiating. Friends may visit with the family between 5:00-8:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Newaygo County. He was one of 7 children born to Samuel and Sarah (McClure) Archie. Roger was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S .Marine Corps and was among the first troops sent into Vietnam. On June 30, 1973 he married Elizabeth ?Dianne? Hocutt in Bridgman. He worked for many years at Archie Tool and Engineering. In 1998 he retired to his lake home in Bitely, MI and worked in Food Services for the Baldwin School System. An avid and successful fisherman and hunter, Roger loved the outdoors. He was an accomplished marksman with a bow-and arrow. Roger is survived by his wife ?Dianne?; brothers, Virgil (Gayle) Archie of Battle Creek and John (Tina) of Benton Harbor; Special nephew, Sam (Missy) Sink of Jacksonville, FL; his Father-in-laws, Mel Hocutt of Bridgman; sisters-in-law, Pam (Don) Mensinger of Stevensville and Melba (Brian) Lolmaugh of Berrien Springs; and a brother-in-law, Kenny (Ana Maria) Hocutt of Bridgman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Omega Geik, Harold Archie, Robbie Gearing, and Carolyn Sink.
