Frances's Obituary

Frances Gertrude Blaisdell, 91, of Baroda, passed away Friday evening, November 18, 2005 in her daughter’s home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Road, Stevensville, with Revs. Gordon Barry and Terri Bently officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 P.M., Monday, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to either the Stevensville UMC, Hospice at Home, or the 4H Foundation. She was one of three children born to Alvin & Lydia Snyder. On June 26, 1937 she married Harry W. Blaisdell in Two Harbors, MN. To this union was born two daughters, Katheryn & Harriet. She was a long time member of the Stevensville UMC. Frances thoroughly enjoyed Knitting and Crocheting. She was the Sewing Leader at the Berrien County 4H. She also had a talent for baking and “all kids loved her cookies and lemon meringue pies.” She is survived by her daughters, Katheryn (Gerald) Petzke of Baroda, and Harriett (Gene) Collier of Stevensville; grandchildren, Cheryl Philyow, Connie (Mark)Wade, Sandra (Matt) Allan, Michael (Teresa) Petzke, and Rob Collier; 6 great-grandchildren; her sister, Faye Bradburn of Hudson Lake, IN; sister-in-law, Hazel Blaisdell of Two Harbors, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband Harry W. Blaisdell on August 13, 2005; her brother, James Snyder; and a great-grandson, Dustin Green.
