Charles J. Hill

Charles James Hill,93, of Stevensville passed away October 13, 2005 at Jordan?s Nursing Home, Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph on October 17th, 2005 at 10:30 AM. Charles was born August 8, 1912 to Otto & Amelia (Kuech) Hill in Chicago, Illinois. On October 1, 1939 he married Edith (Pooch) in Sodus, Michigan, and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Charles was employed by Emlong?s Nursery and the Berrien County Road Commission. He was and avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was also a true Dale Earnhart fan. Survivors include his wife, Edith; one daughter Joyce (August) Schmidt of Sawyer; sons Robert Hill of Stevensville and Donald (Linda) Hill of Bridgman; brothers William Hill of St. Joseph and Otto Hill, Jr. of Stevensville; sisters Ethyl Hayhurst of Coloma and Shirley Freyer of Benton Harbor. Charles was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon (Hill) Hauch in 1991; his son Charles Craig Hill in 2002; three sisters Mildred Schmuck, Evelyn Stump and Joyce Heminger; his brother Ben Hill.
