Kathy Nelson

Kathleen “Kathy” Nelson, 63, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2005, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005, at 11:30 A.M., at Living Word Church of God, 6993 Red Arrow Highway, Coloma with Pastor Windle Davis officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Kathy was born on June 10, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. She married Rev. Lynn Nelson in 1956, in Benton Heights and they were married for 48 years. Kathy enjoyed a fulfilling life as a devoted wife, homemaker, and loving mother. Family was very important to Kathy, she loved to travel with her husband, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Kathy was also involved in many church activities. Kathy is survived by her husband Lynn; children- Arron (Debra) Nelson of Perris, CA, Roxanne (Rick) Traughber of Houston, TX, and Wendy Escobar of Stevensville; grandchildren- Tawnya Spruell, Arron Nelson, Jr., Jason Traughber, Jeremy Traughber, Heather Traughber, Matthew Escobar, Zachary Escobar, and Brianna Escobar; great-grandchildren- Emily Spruell, Ashley Spruell, and Lana Traughber; and many brothers and sisters- in- law, nephews, and nieces. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Pauline (Reid) Mathis and step-father Adam Mathis.
