Elsie G. Schaaf, 77, of Bloomingdale, Michigan, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2005 at West Woods of Niles. A Family Celebration of Life Service was held at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army-Hurricane Relief Fund or Buchanan Meadows Hospice Living Center. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Schaaf was born January 31, 1928 in Chicago to Harry & Rebecca (Isaacson) Froyd. On April 30, 1949, she married D?Von Schaaf in Chicago. Elsie was employed by Illinois Bell and The Norfolk & Southern Railroad, both in Chicago. Following retirement, she and her husband moved to Bloomingdale, Michigan. Elsie enjoyed flower gardening, crossword puzzles, bridge, and especially cooking & baking for her grandchildren. Elsie is survived by her husband D?Von; two sons-Steve (Kathy) Schaaf of Granger, IN, Scott (Mary) Schaaf of St. Joseph; and five grandchildren-Eric, Kristin, & Alan Schaaf, and Brian & Timothy Schaaf. She was preceded in death by her father Harry Froyd, and her mother and step-father, Rebecca & Einar Dahlman.
