Luella Conklin

Luella Ruth Conklin, 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul?s Lutheran Church or Michigan Lutheran High School. Luella was born January 29, 1924 in the little town of Derby in Lincoln Township to Frank and Elsie (Tiefenbach) Geisler. She graduated from Stevensville High School in 1942. On July 6, 1946, she married Harold Conklin in Stevensville. Luella was instrumental in the family business, The Country Carpet Shoppe in St. Joseph, which her husband owned and operated. Luella was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. She enjoyed tending to her flower & vegetable gardens; and enjoyed animals, especially her pet sheltie named Star. Luella is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold; her son Kenneth (Connie) Conklin; two grandchildren-Karla (Tony) Heyn & Kenneth P. Conklin; two brothers-Lester (Shirley) Geisler & Phillip (Peggy) Geisler, both of Stevensville; many nieces & nephews; and several special friends. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Geisler, Jr. in 1932, her step-father Frank Priebe, and her mother Elsie Geisler Priebe in 2000
