Gerald McCoy

Gerald's Obituary

Gerald’s life began on December 21, 1929 in Buchanan, the son of Richard and Helen (Wallace) McCoy. He was a 1949 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. Gerald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He lived on the family farm established in 1863 for most of his life. Gerald was a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Pokagon. He loved his neighbors and loved helping them with anything they needed. Gerald had a passion for gun collecting and was a gunsmith. His family includes his niece Vivian (Bill) Mathews of Niles, nephews Danny McCoy of Florida, Kenneth McCoy of Dowagiac and David McCoy of Dowagiac. Gerald passed away on Sunday April 21st at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. His family will gather with friends on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Dewey Cemetery.
