Essie's Obituary

Essie Lee Moore, 96, of Onalaska, Texas, formerly of Stevensville, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center in Livingston, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 11:00 A.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor J. O. Hosler officiating. Burial will follow in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, from 4-8 P.M., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Essie was born on March 21, 1909, to Ivory and Mary (Frakes) Holmes in Owensboro, Kentucky. She married Murray Moore in July 5, 1951, in Owensboro, Kentucky and then he preceded her in death on December 6, 1977. Essie was a member of Patesville Kentucky Baptist Church, Women of the Moose Lodge-Chapter 405, and Academy of Friendship in Benton Harbor. Essie enjoyed gardening and flowers. Essie is survived by her children- Beverly (Stephen) Demaria of Benton Harbor, Mary Snelling of Goshen, Indiana, Kay Wilson of Onalaska, Texas, and Joseph Massie of Renner, South Dakota; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and sisters- Lucille Allen of La Porte, Indiana and Inas Smith of Hawesville, Kentucky. Essie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Raymond Massie; daughters- Gladys Richardson and Kathern Moore; one brother; and three sisters.
