Sewell V. Sample

Sewell V. Sample, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away, Monday, June 6, 2005 at Caretel Inns of Royalton. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Paul?s Episcopal Church, 914 Lane Dr., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. He served his country in the United States Navy. On January 19, 1963 he married the former Jolyne May Cornes in Phoenix, AZ. Sewell was employed by Sunbeam Corporation for 28 years, retiring as President of International Sales & Vice-President of National Sales. Most recently he served as President of Shepherd Products in St. Joseph. Sewell was a member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed genealogy research, history, reading, tending to his house plants, and watching sports. Sewell is survived by his son John (Laura) Sample of Holland, MI; his daughter Elizabeth (Michael) Swanson of Seattle, WA; his step-daughter Joanna(Tom) Lankford of Crown Pointe, IN; and two step-grandchildren Ashley & Ryan Madeczyk He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Jolyne on December 26, 2001.
