John's Obituary

Major John E. Anderson, 61, of Midland, Michigan, celebrated his life in Christ through his ministry to others. He was promoted to glory and entered into God?s kingdom on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. (Michigan time), on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, Michigan, with Major Dan Hudson officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, Indiana, at 2:30 P.M. (Indiana time). Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made the Salvation Army, 233 Michigan St., Benton Harbor, MI 49022. John was born to William Anderson and Lois (Mottinger) Anderson/Simer on February 4, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. He married Georgia Woodall on November 20, 1981 in Miami, Oklahoma. John was an officer in the Salvation Army and he was also a radio announcer for various radio stations. John was a minister at Nease Memorial Church of Nazarene from 2001 until May 2005. John belonged to Rotary and American Correctional Center Association. He enjoyed traveling, reading, working with computers, collecting eagles, and Indian artifacts. John is survived by his wife Georgia; daughters- Nancy Holloway and DoraLee Thompson; sons- John Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Mark Van Meter, Mike Anderson, James C. Anderson, and Harold Anderson; and twenty-one grandchildren
