Leo's Obituary
Leo Martorano, 74, of Hagar Township, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware, Benton Harbor with Fr. William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Monday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, where Liturgical Prayers will be recited at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Michigan Heart Foundation or Michigan Kidney Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Martorano was born March 18, 1931 in Chicago to Joseph & Mary (Mucia) Martorano. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1949. On June 26, 1954, he married the former Mary ?Mitzi? Sila in Benton Harbor. Leo served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was employed at Whirlpool Corporation, retiring in 1988, as manager of Branch Systems, after 40 years of employment. Leo was a member of St. John-St. Bernard Parish; was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He was a loving & generous person. He never met a stranger. Leo is survived by his wife Mitzi Martorano; two brothers-Jack Martorano of Coloma, Fred (Sharon) Martorano of St. Joseph; his sister Roselyn (Joseph) Sax of Ft. Myers FL; brother-in-law Frank Barry of Ft. Myers, FL; sister-in-law Imogene Martorano of Michigan City, IN; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary Barry and his brother Peter Martorano, both in 2005.
