Jack Lloyd LoPresti, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away at home on Wednesday, 11 May 2005. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 16, 2005, at St. John Catholic Church, 600 Columbus, Benton Harbor with Father Bill Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Visitation is from 4:00 ? 6:00 P.M., with Rosary being prayed at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, May 15, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Michigan Catholic Schools or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to send a condolence message or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Jack was born in Benton Harbor, Mich., on December 14, 1934, to James and Lucille (Stepanov) LoPresti who were also of Benton Harbor. He grew up with two siblings – James (Shirley) LoPresti of Bridgman, MI, and Madeline (David) Tibone of Grandville, OH. He was a father of four – Gina Colleen (Dan) Lucker of Houston, TX, Angela Kathleen (John) Felag of Milford, CT, Jack Vincent of Milwaukee, WI, and Joseph Michael (Mary) LoPresti of Holland, MI. Jack ?Jake? graduated from Saint John’s Catholic High School in June of 1954. He attended Benton Harbor Junior College where he was a member of the basketball team. Jake continued to play basketball in a number of leagues throughout the twin-cities while working at the Voice of Music (VM) and later at Whirlpool Corporation. Jake enjoyed his years at Whirlpool, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Jake was also a member of the Saint Bernard/Saint John parish usher corps, the Saint Joseph Elks, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed politics and frequently involved himself in political campaigning. A fighter — Jack was stricken with Hodgkin?s disease at a young age but fought it off. Jack gave us (his family) the best years of his life and was rewarded with a loving wife, a long enjoyable career, and several grandchildren. The grand kids include ? Brendan, Stephanie and Brian Felag, Mia and Jack LoPresti, and Ryan and Cara Lucker. Jack touched the lives of many people, but, he touched our lives more deeply than can ever be imagined.
