Herbert V. Jensen

Herbert V. Jensen, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, Sunday morning, April 3, 2005. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 11:00A.M., at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, MI, with Rev. Dr. Bob Bramen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 5, from 6:00-8:00 P.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ of St. Joseph. Friends wishing to leave a message of condolence, or to sign the family guestbook, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Jensen was born September 22, 1907, in St. Joseph Township, to Peter and Fredericka (Broderson) Jensen. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1926. On June 29, 1929, in South Bend, IN, he married Mary Konya. Mr. Jensen was retired, after 46 years, from Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, as a meter-man manager. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Group for many years. Mr. Jensen was an avid sports fan; following teams from Detroit, the University of Michigan, and St. Joseph schools. He loved fishing, and doing carpentry work in his shop in his basement. Mr. Jensen is survived by his three sons, Craig Jensen of St. Joseph, Roger Jensen of Portage, and Herbert P. Jensen of Bloomfield Village; and two grandchildren, Erik and Morgan Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Fredericka Jensen, his wife Mary, and many brothers and sisters.
