Gregory Walter Kapp, 59, a lifetime resident of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer on May 20, 2005.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct., St. Joseph, with Rev. Wade Panse officiating. Friends may call on the family from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials can be made to Hospice at Home of Stevensville or First United Methodist Church of St. Joseph where Greg was a member. Greg was born on March 14, 1946, in South Bend, IN., to Walter and Donna (Ellis) Kapp. Greg graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1964. On May 15, 1966, he married Linda Velthouse of Dowagiac, MI. He was most recently employed at State Tool, prior to that Greg had filled one of his lifelong dreams of founding his own company (Innocorp) in 1984. He was an avid golfer and a licensed pilot. In his spare time he enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes. He was a 31 year member of the St. Joseph Elks.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Donna Kapp in 1992. In addition to his wife Linda; Greg is survived by one son Scott (Kate) Kapp of St. Joseph, two granddaughters Chelsea and Katie; two grandsons Grant and Garrett; two sisters Deborah (Robert) Morris of Niles and Patti Sue Kapp of St. Joseph; father and mother-in-law Ralph and Eula (Dee) Velthouse of Dowagiac; nephew Troy Morris; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and will also be deeply missed by his buddy Tish.
