Edward L. Gast

Edward L. Gast, 55, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Greg Prather officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund or the charity of the donor?s choice. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Gast was born July 13, 1949 in St. Joseph to Robert & Thelma (Ludwig) Gast. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1968 and received an associates degree from Lake Michigan College. On June 14, 1969, he married the former Velma McKie in Benton Harbor. Ed learned the tool & die trade and was employed by Electro-Voice in Buchanan for over 20 years and most recently at Bosch in St. Joseph. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his special time with his granddaughter Lexie. Ed is survived by his wife Velma; two sons-Edward Gast of Eau Claire & Jason (Jodi) Gast of Niles; his daughter Lisa Gast of Benton Harbor; his granddaughter Lexie Gast; and his sister Valerie (Glenn) Hauch of Moab, Utah. He was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Polashak in 1978, his father Robert in 1979, and his mother Thelma in 2004.
