Bertha Hartwig

Bertha Warmbein Hartwig, 90, of Milwaukee, formerly of Stevensville, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Luther Manor in Milwaukee. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, Michigan with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may call from 9:00 ? 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul?s Lutheran Church or Luther Manor. Mrs. Hartwig was born May 8, 1915 in Thalberg, Manitoba, Canada to Robert & Caroline (Modro) Warmbein. On June 25, 1938 she married Edmund A. Hartwig in New Troy, MI. Bertha retired from V-M Corp. in Benton Harbor after many years of employment. Following her retirement, she worked as a cook at St. Paul?s Lutheran School. Her family remembers her for her love of cooking & baking, especially cookies & pies; and for her selfless nature, always doing for others. Bertha was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Mrs. Hartwig is survived by two daughters-Donna (Curtis) Moll of Milwaukee, Rose (Michael) Miller of Brookfield, WI; seven grandchildren-Jon (Carolann) Ruddat, Rachel (Sean) Crites, David (Kelly) Ruddat, Michele (Brad) Weimer, Annie (Andy) Nygaard, Martin (Diane) Miller, Philip Miller; eleven great-grandchildren; and two brothers-John & William Warmbein, both of Three Oaks, MI. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edmund on October 29, 1987, two brothers-Erich & Henry Warmbein, a sister Elvina Warmbein, and four infant siblings.
