Anna's Obituary

Anna M. Kovar, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Msgr. Thomas Martin officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 P.M. Thursday at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Michigan Heart Association, Hospice at Home, or Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Kovar was born January 10, 1917 in Christopher, Illinois to Joseph & Mary (Hubacek) Adam. On August 25, 1940, she married Ben Kovar in Chicago, Illinois. Anna was employed as a housekeeper for several families in the area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church & The Beseda Club; and enjoyed playing cards, table games, and bingo. She also enjoyed being around people, especially spending time with her family. Mrs. Kovar is survived by two sons-Joseph B. Kovar of St. Joseph, Edward F. (Rose) Kovar of Bridgman; two grandchildren-Edward J. (Sarah) Kovar of Riverside, MI, Betty Jo (William) Blocker of Tucson, AZ; a brother Frank (Libby) Adam of Harrison, Arkansas and a sister-in-law Betty Hejl of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother Marie Adam, her husband Ben on March 31, 1963, and her brother Joseph Adam Jr. in 1962.
