William C. Piacenti, 78, of Coloma, formerly of Chicago Heights, beloved husband and father left this world on Tuesday, April 19, 2005.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place on Sunday, May 1st, 2005 at 12:30 PM at Keeler United Methodist Church, 84085 County Rd 687, Hartford, MI 49057. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill?s name to Keeler United Methodist Church, where he and Dorothy had been active members. Bill was born to William and Marie (Kramer) Piacenti on October 28, 1926 in Chicago Heights, IL. A veteran of World War II, he served as a sergeant in the army and was stationed in Hawaii until the end of the war. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Fredman, ?Freddie,? in February of 1947, were wed on May 8, 1948 and set up home in Chicago Heights, IL. For 20 years, Bill worked as a salesman at his father?s business, the Chicago Heights Furniture Mart. Active in the Boy Scouts from the age of 10; he later became scoutmaster of Troop 195. He was awarded the merit of Eagle Scout, The Order of the Arrow and the prestigious Silver Beaver. His passion for scouting continued and he and Dorothy moved to Delta, WI in 1968, where he built and ran Camp Black Bear, a wilderness Boy Scout camp for 5 years. Bill, Dorothy and their son, Bill Jr. eventually moved to Michigan, spending the past 10 years in Coloma. Bill?s great love of and talent for music gave him his third career as a professional pianist at Point ?o Woods Country Club where he performed for over 20 years.
Bill?s beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy, preceded him in death last December. He is survived by this two children, Valerie Piacenti of Seattle, WA and his son, William Jr. of Coloma, MI; his sisters, Peggy Cullen of Chicago Heights, IL, Arlene Hare of Wheaton, IL and Cheryl Caruso of Tamarac, FL; his brother Ronald Piacenti of Arlington, TX; his grandson Zachary Anderson and son-in-law James Anderson of Seattle, WA, and many nieces, nephews and countless friends. William was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
