Henry Westerhoven

Henry Westerhoven, 76, of Bainbridge Township, went to meet his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, 266 Chippewa, Benton Harbor, with Rev. John Hosler officiating. Burial will follow at Penn-Yan Cemetery in Bainbridge Township. Friends may call from 3-5 P.M. Sunday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Napier Parkview Baptist Church or Grace Christian School. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Mr. Westerhoven was born February 6, 1929 in Sodus to Henry J. & Sophia (VanApeldorn) Westerhoven. Henry served his country in the United States Army. He owned & operated Westerhoven Nursery, which was started by his father, for 60 years. On November 14, 1953, Henry married the former Marjorie Eisenhart in Watervliet. He was a member of Napier Parkview Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He was a very kind & generous man, and a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. Henry designed and built much of the equipment that he used on the farm. He had several patents to his credit. If the neighbors needed something fixed, they often came to Henry after others had tried unsuccessfully to fix it. Henry is survived by his wife Marjorie; his daughter Janet (Al) Lindsten of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandchildren-Matthew Lindsten & Kathryn Lindsten; his brother John (Nancy) Westerhoven of Eau Claire; and his sister Betty Westerhoven of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Gertrude Wright in 1998.
