Ruth's Obituary

Ruth Flora Louise Springfield, 84 of Stevensville, went to meet her Lord & Savior on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Caretel Inns of Royalton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Stevensville United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Friends may call from 2-5 P.M. Saturday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Stevensville United Methodist Church or Berrien County Cancer Service. Mrs. Springfield was born January 7, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Rollie Edward & Antonette (Koza) Watson. On June 1, 1941 she married Lee S. Springfield in Chicago. Ruth was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago for 30 years. Ruth and Lee retired to Stevensville from Chicago in 1979. She was a member of Stevensville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Church Women United, The Bessada Club, Widow & Widowers Group, and Monday Musical. Mrs. Springfield is survived by her daughter Joyce Hudak of Stevensville; her son-in-law Thomas J. Hudak of St. Joseph; two grandchildren-Lisa Marie (Michael) Gathright, Erik Thomas (Heather Schiefer) Hudak; three great-grandchildren-James, Jenna, & Emily Gathright; nieces & nephews-Christine Day of Lake Barrington Shores, IL, Betty Faulk of Altamont, Kansas, Jerry Lee Scott of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; and great nephews Joe & Josh Day. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Lee S. Springfield on April 28, 1983.
